New York, New Jersey, Boston and Philadelphia area residents felt tremors and experienced an earthquake on the morning of Friday, April 5.



The magnitude-4.8 quake started around 10:23 AM ET, and was centered 50 miles west of New York City, in Lebanon, New Jersey, according to CBS. Meteorologist Kathryn Prociv said it was one of the strongest quakes to strike New Jersey in over two centuries.

People in New York City said the quake lasted for around 10 seconds, and shook entire buildings from Brooklyn to Harlem.
