Description

Brooch on display as part of the "Jazz Age" exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.

Mauboussin is a French company that was founded in 1827 by a "Monsieur Rocher". His cousin Jean-Baptiste Noury, took over the business in 1850. By the end of the 1870s, the company had gained a continent-wide reputation. Noury's nephew, Georges Mauboussin, took over the business in 1923 and renamed it after himself.

The designer of this compact, made in 1925, is not known. It is made of platinum, diamonds, aquamarine, carved moonstone, black enamel, and cabochon sapphires.
